NextEra Energy resources 250

If i were a betting man my money would be on back to back Daytona truck winner Todd Bodine this weekend in the NextEra Energy Resources 250. Bodine will be bringing his Germain Racing Toyota from the 15th spot tonight, in an attempt to make it a three peat at the 2.5 mile Daytona International Speedway. There's no doubt about it, He has been a super power on Nascars two biggest tracks he has also chalked up wins in two of the last three races at Talladega Superspeedway where drafting is also the key to success. However you cant leave out Series Champion Ron Hornaday driving for KHI. The # 33 is always tough which ever track the series is racing any given weekend. Just to make things a even tougher for a Bodine three peat is the addition of Kyle Bush a 15 time winner in the truck series and has been to totally dominate a truck race. Bodine will have his work cutout for him tonight, but like i said, if i were a betting man I might just have to bet the house, the kids college funds and retirement on the #30 tonight. Luckily im not a betting man. Good luck Onion!

Make Or Break Year For Junior........

With the thought of the last couple year's still looming in Junior's head this is sure to be the most pivotal in his racing career. One of the best things going for him right now is that the series is on a plate track to start the year off, plus if the way he qualified shows anything he has a great car already for the weekend. Today during duel # 2 he will take them to the green flag and we shall see what he's really got, of course I'm thinking if he uses his head, he will get a nice feel for the car in traffic see how it does in a full draft scenario, but not push it too hard, I would hate for him to wreck and have to start in the rear. That's not a very good way to build someones confidence thats coming off one of his worst seasons. If he does break something during the duel, im sure he will run well either way its a plate track. The real test comes when the series hits the mile and a half tracks starting with Las Vegas. The team overall has struggled with 1.5 mile tracks in the past. Keeping up with the track conditions i think has been the biggest problem for them. We shall see.

Danica Racing in the Nation wide Series.........

Ok,Ok,Ok, so Danica Patrick ran a good race in the ARCA series. In fact JR Motorsports thinks she ran so good she can compete in the Nationwide series after one race..and i quote "I think Danica proved to everyone that she can compete in stock cars at a high level, and right now
seat time is extremely important, She has worked extremely hard during the past two months for this opportunity". "Her dedication and work ethic is infectious" Ok So let me get this straight, She has one race in the ARCA series and she can compete at a high level in all the other series? or was it her Work ethic being so "infectious" that has her able to compete at a high level? i mean, lets get serious here.....i have a great work ethic but i really dont think that would make me a great race car driver. I have never competed in an ARCA race either, BUT, considering the number of crashes and the few number of cars that actually finished that race...i could have probably had a decent finish. I'm not knocking Danica, she can drive open wheel cars and lets face it, she's not to bad to look at either, but one race doesnt make her a stock car driver who can compete on a high level every week. JR needs to be concentrating on how he runs every week, so he can be accused of competing on a high level, if he runs like he did last year that would be a false accusation. wouldnt it?

Bud Shootout Exciting?

Wow, i thought the Budshootout was exciting. Nascar did a good thing in putting the bumping back in the drivers hands, yes there are more wrecks, but it makes the race for the lead more exciting. Also the new addition of the bigger plate added alot more closing speed to the cars. All in all it was a fantastic race, and if this is any indication of how the racing will be during the 500, it should be one of the best 500's in years. what are your thoughts?

Let's Get ready To Rumble (I hope)

Well its that time of year, my favorite time of year. A time to break out the camping gear (or motor home) pack up the grill and your buddy's and head to the track. Thats right, It's NASCAR time once again. As much as i enjoy getting ready for the race weekend and as exciting as it is to be hanging out at the track watching some good old fashioned NASCAR racing and doing some people watching,i have to say, NASCAR has lost some of its appeal to me over the last couple seasons. I still enjoy the people watching, but the racing has become a little.....ahhh to put it blunt...BORING! I mean what happened to the good old Winston Cup days when (to Quote Harry Hogge) "Rubbin is Racin'". The drivers cant even race the cars without worrying about making contact with another driver for fear of penalties and points deductions or even worse a race suspension. So what happens is youy get 43 guys just riding around on a Sunday afternoon joy ride. My oh my, what would the Intimidator say? I tell you what he might say...that aint racing! Obviously NASCAR has seen what its doing to the sport with the fall of T.V. ratings and track attendance down at almost every track. They (NASCAR) have decided to allow for a little more beating and banging as i like to say, which i think is a great idea. NASCAR has also decided to back off on the bump draft rule at Daytona, and "put it back in the drivers hands". Is it me or isnt that where it should have been the entire time, the drivers are what built the sport into what it is today, and the fans are what keeps it going, so why not let the drivers drive(what they are paid to do) and let the fans enjoy a fantastic weekend at the track that includes some good racing! If a guy wants to do some crazy move and cause a major crash, the other drivers will deal with him. So my question of the day is, what are your thoughts on NASCAR and how do you feel about the current changes they have made to make it more of a crowd pleaser again?
